Summary

The final book of The Billionaire’s Mask Series is here…

From the moment I met Brandon Lucien, I found a love of epic proportions. But he was also a damaged soul. He was insecure, burned by his past, and a man driven by revenge.

Yet, I saw the beauty of his heart and the relentless need to survive. I am so deeply and madly in love with him that I need him like the heart beating in my chest.

Brandon has overcome his demons, but mine still haunts me. The shadows of my past are waiting to shatter my dreams of a beautiful future.

We promised to defy all odds, stand against every risk, and face our unknown future together. I trust him with my life, but do I trust myself? I saved Brandon from his misery once, but can he save me from mine?

Review

Trying to forget my past wasn’t the real escape. It was acceptance.

The Empress

March 15, 2022

Summary

There is a reason that the powerful get more powerful. Something that they don’t talk about – or acknowledge. Sure you can get ahead the traditional way – by stomping on those beneath you to get to the top. By being ruthless and cut throat.

But you can also employ a Witch. Someone who will read cards for you in a way that gives you an edge over your competitors, cast spells for you so that your desired outcomes are seamless.

The Tarot Club is exactly this, only this time Corinne’s client is the Bratva – the Russian Mob, and she suddenly finds herself reading cards to determine who should live and who should die by their hands.

And Dimitri is the man who will lead the Bratva into a new era. But does Corinne want to stick around and be part of that? Will she stay as their Empress?

The first book in a duet in the Tarot Club series is set to keep you on the edge of your seat gasping for more.

Review

Everyone has their secrets. Do we ever truly know someone when we can’t ever truly know ourselves?

Witches. Bratva. Demons. Oh my! Erin Mc Luckie Moya can take popular tropes/concepts and make them into something unique. The Empress is a paranormal romance between a witch and someone in the Bratva (similar to the mafia). Mixing the old with the new to make something more powerful.

The first time I read The Empress, I thought I didn’t like it as much as I did. I came out of it thinking that I prefer Erin’s other series, the Hellhound MC, more. But, after rereading both Catching Cole and The Empress, I don’t know what to think.

In reality, the first time I read The Empress in October, I seemed to have highlighted a lot of it. However, I didn’t realize that was the case until I reread The Empress in February. Adding more highlights, making it look like a coloring book.

After being judged and dismissed my entire life, I tried not to judge others.

I didn’t think I would relate to a character from the first line. Although my life is not the same, I can still draw parallels between Corrine and myself. She’s both who I am and who I want to be.

People are not just one thing but comprised of multiple layers. Corrine doesn’t fit in one world but has one foot in one and one in another. Like most people, Corrine just wanted to belong. So when her own family didn’t understand her, she sought out a family that would, a chosen family of her own.

Dimitri is an ass. It took some time, but I warmed up to him. I ended up loving Dimitri by the time The Empress was over, and you probably will too.

When Corinne and Dimitri met, they didn’t like each other. He didn’t believe her. But they’re more alike than they realized. Usually, I’m not one for slow burns, but I understand there is a time and place. And every once and a while, I don’t mind them. That being said, The Empress was a slow burn, but I was too invested to even realize.

Without realizing it, The Empress had impacted me. It made me more open to the idea of getting tarot cards. Because one month later, in November, I bought my first deck, and it went downhill from there. At this point, I’m more collecting than using, but I want to learn it.
I watched readings and tarot tube long before reading The Empress, but I think it was the catalyst. The second time around made me want to learn even more. I upped my original review from 4 stars to 5 stars solely because it stuck with me, and I can’t stop thinking about it. I’m slowly making my way reading all of Erin Mc Luckie’s works. And I’m invested in what I’ve read so far.

The Emperor

March 15, 2022

Summary

A bargain. A demon. A club. The Bratva. A Goddess. And, the thread of Magick pulsing through everything they do.

Is being hopeful an exercise in naivety, or is it the thing that fuels them?

Dimitri

I shouldn’t have claimed her – but I did, and she claimed me right back. But having a Tarot Reader and Witch as my Queen complicates matters. Having her wasn’t supposed to raise the stakes, but it did, and I’ll be damned if I let her go.

Corinne

I watch the uneasiness flicker in his eyes. The threat hasn’t been quelled, the ground is shaky beneath us, and with every new member I meet, I look into the depths of their soul and wonder if they’ll be the one to betray us – because betrayal is coming – it’s written in the cards, I just need to figure out who.

Review

“I’m here.” He was here—it would be okay—I wasn’t alone anymore.

Every time I read something from Erin Mc Luckie, I just love her more. Just when I think I know what I like, I have a new favorite by the time I’m done reading.

Since I bonded with The Empress, I didn’t think The Emperor would top it. But, boy, was I wrong! Even though The Empress will always have a special place in my heart, there’s just something about The Emperor.

The Emperor picks up where The Empress left off. I’m glad I decided to read The Empress again before starting The Emperor. I believe that reading the duet back to back made my experience even better than it could be without doing so. The Empress laid out the foundation of what would be The Tarot Club series. The background. The Emperor, in comparison, is the story playing out.

Since it’s called The Emperor, is it weird to want more Dimitri than what was given? Or is that just me? I couldn’t get enough of him and wanted more. Every time we get a glimpse of Dimitri’s perspective, I didn’t think it was enough. I know that It’s Corrine’s journey, and I love her too, but I guess it’s just wishful thinking.

Dimitri smiled at me, and I was suddenly aware that I was experiencing a lot of firsts with this man. It was as if before him I had simply been going through the motions or living without actually experiencing life itself.

Relationships have their ups and downs. What Corrine and Dimitri went through would either make or break a couple. The beginning was rough with a certain event. Then not knowing where they stood with one another. All of the mixed signals. It could’ve been easily fixed with communication. But then again, I also understand. It’s sometimes difficult to communicate. Even through the confusion, one thing is certain, Corrine and Dimitri love each other, even if they aren’t sure about the other’s feelings when it’s clear as day. It’s the type of relationship that is “us versus the world.” They will be there for one another, no matter what. They understand and complement one another.

“I am a king amongst men.”
“My actions will always bother others.”
“Am I others?”
“You are my queen—my Empress.”

Corrine is finally free from her picture perfect life, able to be herself. There was a lot of growth in The Emperor. In Corrine, Dimitri and Corrine’s relationship, and more. We heard about the other Tarot Club members and had little glimpses in The Empress. But in The Emperor, we actually meet them and see their dynamic/relationship with Corrine present day. It makes me want to know more about them. With the first duet complete, I can’t wait for the rest of The Tarot Club series to continue with The High Priestess coming July 7, 2022.

“A Bánh Mì for Two” is a feel-good story abo “A Bánh Mì for Two” is a feel-good story about food, family, and self-discovery.

Dual POVs: Lan, who lives in Sai Gon, wants to be the perfect daughter and fulfill “expectations,” all the while dealing with the grief of losing her father. Vivi is a Vietnamese-American who comes to Vietnam for the first time, wanting to learn more about her family and herself. Their love of food connects them.

I wasn’t expecting to get emotional as I did.

“A Bánh Mì for Two” was what I needed growing up. Stories with characters who look like me are coming to traditional publishing in YA. And people even know about it!

If only the blog was real! I would use it the next time I go to Vietnam. It needs to be a thing.

It was relatable. However, I wished for more at moments.
A few times, I had to stop to look up words. Since I can understand Vietnamese more than I can read it, I had to listen to the words to understand what they were. It would have been an even better experience if I had listened to the audiobook.

“A Bánh Mì for Two” was one of my anticipated books of the year, and I am honored to be gifted a copy.
