Kind, intelligent, and thoughtful, Alessandra Davenport has played the role of trophy wife for years.
She stood by her husband while he built an empire, but now that they’ve reached the top, she realizes he’s no longer the man she fell for.
When it becomes clear that she’ll always come second to his work, she finally takes charge of her life and puts herself first―even if it means leaving the only man she’s ever loved.
But what she didn’t count on was his refusal to let her go…or for him to fight for their marriage, no matter what it takes.
Review
“You’ve spent your life living for others. Now you can finally live for yourself.”
Did I know I would get emotional or even cry at some point reading anything by Ana Huang? Of course, I expected that. But did I expect to tear up at less than 20%? CERTAINLY NOT! However, since I did, my rating got pushed up because it did.
Second-chance romances typically are hit or miss for me. King of Greed is one of the few I gelled with. Maybe because Ana has this way of interweaving all her characters to coexist regardless of series/topics/tropes, it always makes sense when another character randomly pops up because they are related in one way or another. We have also seen glimpses of Alessandra and Dominic sprinkled in the Twisted series and previous books from the King of Sins series. Once you put all the pieces together, everything clicked.
I don’t understand how Ana manages to make all her characters relatable. At least for me, I can see a part of myself in all of the characters I’ve read so far. It can be something minor, but I can still latch on, and it makes my experience all the more better.
I have so much more to say/gush, but it’ll likely contain spoilers. So that will wait.
