Summary
I’ve fallen down a very deep, dark rabbit hole, and I fear there’s no end in sight. Kidnapped by a psychotic energy vampire, I’m now free, trying to put the shattered pieces of my life back together. But now I’m questioning if that old life is even worth salvaging. Not when I look around this new, mysterious world I’ve entered—a world of angels and demons, witches and magic. A world where I’m questioning who I really am, and what I really want. And if I’m being honest, what I really want includes a certain Nephilim. Gabe and I have become friends, but I can’t imagine any world in which a sexy being such as him could be more than just friends with a damaged girl such as me.
Gabe
When Charlotte walked into the metaphysical shop Memphis Magic, it felt like a Watcher angel sucker punched me in the gut. I’ll do anything to get to know her, and anything to protect her. She’s not the only one with baggage, but when I unload mine, could someone as sweet and loving as Charlotte love a Nephilim like me?
Author’s note: Heal Me is part of the Memphis Magic Series, and is not a standalone. It can be read after Book 1 or Book 2, your choice. If you like angels and demons, witches and magic, friends to lovers, humor, heat, and healing journeys, then this book is for you. Please check the author’s website for TW.
Review
“We will do anything for the people we love.”
Everyone has scars at one point or another, some more visible than others, but they are signs of your experiences.
People change. Everything can be planned out, going in a particular direction, and then suddenly, one change can lead you down another path. You can choose what to do, stay on the course, or pivot to something else.
Being judged for every choice you make is not fun. And yeah, not everything is about you. But when there are direct questions/comments, it can hit where it hurts most.
I related to Charlotte; my college experience and relationship with my mother were somewhat similar. I wish I had my own Gabe. Charlotte’s roommate was something else. I loved the Vivian scenes because she always just added something special.
Charlotte and Gabe’s perspective is like night and day from Aubry and Damion’s. Possession and Obsession had more comic moments. Seeing glimpses of Gabe and Charlotte in the other two books from the Memphis Magic series intrigued me, and I wanted to know more from their side and wasn’t disappointed. With Heal Me, rape was mentioned, but not in detail. So check for trigger warnings before going into this. However, I believe it’s more on the tame side, but you know yourself best.
I’m the type of person who tends to be one extreme or the other. When I like a story, I highlight too much or very little. Heal Me falls into the minimal category, which I have few of. I was too captivated by the story that I would rather read than stop to highlight something, even if it’s something I may want later. I could read any of the books in the Memphis Magic series multiple times, and it’ll always feel like the first time.
I can’t wait to read Unleash Me. There was a sneak peek at the end, but I’m too impatient, and I didn’t read it because I didn’t want to keep myself hanging. I would rather wait impatiently for the whole thing.
