Elegant. Ambitious. Well-mannered.
Vivian Lau is the perfect daughter and her family’s ticket into the highest echelons of high society.
Marrying a blue-blooded Russo means opening doors that would otherwise remain closed to her new-money family.
While the rude, elusive Dante isn’t her idea of a dream partner, she agrees to their arranged marriage out of duty.
Craving his touch was never part of the plan.
Neither was the worst thing she could possibly do: fall in love with her future husband.
King of Wrath is a steamy arranged marriage/billionaire romance. It contains explicit content, profanity, and mild violence. Recommended for mature readers only.
Review
Of all the people in my life, she was the only one who could make me lose control.
I knew enough not to start reading King of Wrath until I had the time. It wasn’t easy pulling myself away from the story. I was captivated from the very beginning. I ignored all of my responsibilities so that I could read. I was surprised I was successfully able to stop even halfway through.
King of Wrath took me on an emotional roller coaster ride. I teared up a few times at work and was worried people would think I was crying for no reason. Thankfully no one was around for those moments. But, on the other hand, there were times when I was smiling while reading. There were even some parts where I wanted to laugh out loud, but it wouldn’t have been appropriate since I was at work.
Family is integral in King of Wrath. Love is powerful because it can drive you to make choices that may not always be easy. Unfortunately, life doesn’t always go as planned. Vivian and Dante are forced into an arranged marriage. They are forced to be in close proximity, which turns their dislike to love.
Ana is good at giving us easter eggs/hints of past and future characters. They may appear in the same universe even if they’re in different series. She connects them to the main characters for their appearance to make sense. All of her works coexist, no matter what series they’re from. DANTE AND VIVIAN. That’s all I have to say. They are realistic and relatable. It was difficult for me to rank my favorite characters and couples. Thankfully this is a new series, even though some old characters popped up. There were many scenes I loved and many relatable moments. I love the dynamics between everyone; their interactions were fun to read.
I was so engrossed in the story that I didn’t want to interrupt what I was reading to translate it whenever there was Italian. So there were a few moments when I didn’t know what was being said. I think I glossed it over and forgot about it until I reached the end. But by that point, it was too late. I wished there were hints in the translation to understand what was happening. I realize it was supposed to seem like Vivian didn’t understand, but I was too lazy to find out. And I wasn’t able to use the context clues to figure it out. But I believe that’s a personal problem, though.
Whenever I read anything from Ana Huang, I have high expectations, and she never disappoints me. Her works are 4.5 stars or higher, at least for me. Ana is an auto-buy author for me. The collector in me would buy as many editions of her books as possible. The Twisted series is one of my favorites, and I have multiple editions. I have yet to read her If Love series, but I will when I have a chance. I can’t wait to read King of Pride.
