Summary
Seb and Sophie from Truth or Tequila are back in this romantic comedy. Professional baseball player Seb Miller and his new wife, Sophie, are blissfully happy. Stupidly happy. The kind of happy that makes other people jealous. So jealous in fact, that someone has started coming after Sophie on social media. It wasn’t much at first, but as Seb’s team heads into the World Series, the posts begin to reveal intimate details about their relationship that only someone very close to them would know.
Sophie
When I met Seb, my life changed completely—mostly for the better. When we’re alone, it’s magical. He’s the most loving, attentive man in the world. Unfortunately part of being married to a famous man is having everyone in your business. It wasn’t too bad at first, but now there’s someone on social media telling the world about the most private parts of our lives. Everyone’s talking about it. And now I can’t go anywhere without being recognized. It’s exhausting, and honestly, I’m not sure how much longer I can take it.
Seb
For me, the worst part about being a professional athlete is the fame. Hands down. Nothing else even comes close. I’m a quiet guy. I’m even a little bit shy. The attention is overwhelming at times, but I deal with it because it’s part of my job description. But now my fame is affecting Sophie. People are starting to harass her. And that can’t happen. She’s more important to me than anything—baseball included. I’ve told her I’ll quit playing the second she tells me it’s too much—that very second. Even if it’s in the middle of the World Series.
Review
“Everyone wants a piece of you, and the pieces that everyone gets become microscopic.”
Seb and Sophie have a special place in my heart. Truth or Tequila was the first book from Donna Schwartze I’ve read. It’s always fun whenever I read one of her books. I was so captivated by Leave It On The Field that I finished it in a day. I was too focused and didn’t want to stop reading to highlight as I was reading.
You only need to read Truth or Tequila before reading Leave It On The Field. All of the other books are not necessary but are recommended. Donna has a reading order suggestion chart on how to read her books. She created a world where her characters overlap. They exist in the same world. And Leave It On The Field is an excellent example of coexisting characters and crossovers in the other series. I love that there are notes as reminders. It summarizes what you need to know before reading about the characters and their relationships if you haven’t read the others or it’s been a while. I didn’t read the second book in the series. The order I read the books was Truth or Tequila, Runaway Bride of Blitzen Bay, and then Leave It On The Field. After finishing Leave It On The Field, I didn’t want to leave the world, so I read all the other books in the suggested order. I enjoyed Leave It On The Field before, but reading the rest of the books, made the experience even better.
I loved the twists. Just when I thought I knew where the story was going, another twist was thrown in that made me surprised.
I still love Seb. It’s Seb and Sophie against the world. Yet, despite all the obstacles thrown at them, they stuck together. They’re a great example of love conquers all.
Thank you, Donna Schwartze, for an advanced copy of Leave It On The Field.
