Summary
The final book of The Billionaire’s Mask Series is here…
From the moment I met Brandon Lucien, I found a love of epic proportions. But he was also a damaged soul. He was insecure, burned by his past, and a man driven by revenge.
Yet, I saw the beauty of his heart and the relentless need to survive. I am so deeply and madly in love with him that I need him like the heart beating in my chest.
Brandon has overcome his demons, but mine still haunts me. The shadows of my past are waiting to shatter my dreams of a beautiful future.
We promised to defy all odds, stand against every risk, and face our unknown future together. I trust him with my life, but do I trust myself? I saved Brandon from his misery once, but can he save me from mine?
Review
Trying to forget my past wasn’t the real escape. It was acceptance.
Did I open The Billionaire’s Promise as soon as I saw it? Yes.
Did I reread the other two in the series to refresh? Nope.
I meant to but was excited when I saw the ARC in my library when I woke up. Thankfully, I finished what I was reading prior so that I could fully immerse myself in The Billionaire’s Promise.
How many hoops must one go through to get their happily ever after?
Alayna and Brandon don’t seem to be able to catch a break! If it’s not one thing, it’s another. The Billionaire’s Mask series is about how the past can impact one’s present/future and its aftermath. Relationships are not always smooth sailing. You can meet the right person, but it can be the wrong time. If it’s meant to be, you’ll find a way to return to one another. Book one and two, The Billionaire’s Mask and The Billionaire’s Revenge, respectively, focuses on Brandon’s past. Book three, The Billionaire’s Promise is about Alayna’s.
I’m glad that it wasn’t a love triangle or any other shape, to be honest. Yet, so many people love/d the heroine in the romantic sense. However, they all leave her at one point or another.
Everyone has a past.
I’ve tried to hide what I’ve been through from the people I loved for a long time. I buried it deep within my soul as though all of that didn’t happen. But I was only fooling myself. I thought it was my escape route until I met Brandon.
Running away doesn’t solve anything. At some point, it will come back and haunt you until you finally confront it.
On the outside, Brandon and Alayna may seem completely different. But on the inside, they’re more alike than one would think, which is why they work.
I was stubborn enough not to admit that I saw myself in him—as though looking at my own reflection in front of a mirror. We didn’t go through the same misery, but I’ve also imprisoned myself in a cage I created—just like when he locked himself in his room for ten years. He was just as broken as I was and just as disturbed.
They understand one another.
Although I didn’t read The Billionaire’s Promise in one sitting, I managed to finish reading in one day. Even when I had to take breaks in between because I couldn’t focus, it was exciting to finally read The Billionaire’s Promise in general. The nostalgia of reading Margarette Grey’s writing takes me back to middle/high school and reading on Wattpad, where I originally read The Billionaire’s Mask. To finally read it published, it just hits differently. Nothing on Wattpad because I still read on there every so often. Thank you, Margarette, for an ARC.
